Birthday Night Retires
We have made the very difficult decision to retire Birthday Night (Barney) from Eventing. He has been a fantastic horse to Jennifer Baines, William Fox-Pitt, Harry Meade and myself, Georgie Spence. Having completed 6 CCI****’s including 4 completions at Badminton, and will now be listed in the Badminton Programme next year. He is the most exceptional XC horse I have ever, and probably will ever ride. The highlights of his career include;

2005 2nd Kreuth 3*
2006 11th Luhmuhlen 4*
2007 24th Badminton 4* and 10th Gatcombe Park 3*
2008 31st Badminton 4* and 20th Burghley 4*
2009 7th Somerley 2*, 4th Burham 3* and 40th Badminton 4*
2010 4th Gatcombe Park Advanced
2011 39th Badminton 4*
Total BE points 829
Barney is an absolute horse of a lifetime and will be greatly missed in the yard and at competitions. He has certainly created himself a fan club and will be missed by all. Barney will be enjoying his retirement in the hunting field near his owner Jane Walter.
A true ‘GENT’ who loved his xc work – 4*, with tears in my eyes, i say a fond farewell, knowing Barney WILL love his retirement in the hunting field. A thank you to Jane for giving Georgie the opportunity – ‘special time’ in the saddle.
