Burghley

On Friday I did a course walk with Yogi and about 30 members of the Gold Medal Member club for BE. It was a really good chance for people to have a walk round and a good look at the fences, between Yogi and I we discussed the fences and how I would ride them, (well hopefully anyway). Everyone seemed to have a good time and I really enjoyed it.

The Saturday came and it was XC day. George was very excited and was fresh to warm up. But we was going well and jumping great. We started well, but a bit strong. He is normally strong and I do struggle a bit with breaks but thought he would settle down as we go into the course. It seems I got him a little to fit and he didnt stop pulling from start to finish. He is a very straight horse and always tries to jump between the flags, but we sadly had one run out at a corner coming up a steep hill. We got a little close to the log before then you go down onto the road and back upto the corner, he just never locked onto it as he was still just too strong, this was a real shame, but a good learning curve. We finished the reast of the course well, if not still a little strong.

He trotted up very well on sunday morning and then put in a fantastic proformance in the show jumping, just having 2 fences down which is a huge inprovement, so the extra fitness did pay off in the end.

I finished 35th and also won a saddle the Best U25 nearest the opt time which was fantastic.
